Virtual Second Opinions offered at The Center for Treatment of Anxiety and Mood Disorders

Gain Clarity and Confidence with an Expert Second Opinion

Receiving a diagnosis for a mental health condition can be overwhelming. For some individuals, symptoms may overlap with other conditions, making it difficult to know whether the current diagnosis and treatment plan are the best fit. Others may simply want the reassurance that comes from having an experienced specialist review their case.

The Center for Treatment of Anxiety and Mood Disorders now offers Virtual Second Opinions for children, adolescents, and adults across the United States. Through a comprehensive review of your medical records and a virtual consultation with one of our experienced specialists, we provide an independent evaluation designed to:

  • Confirm a diagnosis
  • Clarify complex symptoms
  • Offer thoughtful treatment recommendations

Our goal is to help you make informed decisions about your care with greater confidence.

    Why Seek a Second Opinion?

A second opinion can provide valuable insight when:

    • You have recently received a new diagnosis and would like confirmation.
    • Your symptoms have changed or worsened.
    • Treatment has not produced the expected results.
    • Multiple diagnoses have been suggested.
    • You are considering significant changes to your treatment plan.
    • You would like recommendations from clinicians who specialize in anxiety, mood, and related disorders.

Many psychiatric and medical conditions share similar symptoms. An expert evaluation can help distinguish between disorders, identify contributing factors, and ensure that treatment is focused on the underlying condition.

      What Is Included?

      Each Virtual Second Opinion includes:

      • A comprehensive review of your medical and mental health records
      • A virtual consultation with one of our specialists
      • A detailed written report summarizing our findings
      • Evidence-based treatment recommendations
      • Recommendations that can be shared with your current treatment providers (this is at your discretion)

Rather than replacing your existing clinician, our goal is to provide additional expertise that can support your ongoing care.

      Our Process

Our Virtual Second Opinion program is designed to be straightforward while ensuring our team has the information needed to provide a thoughtful evaluation.

      Step 1:
      Registration

Begin by contacting our office to register for the program. Our administrative team will explain the process, answer your questions, and help you get started.

      Step 2:
      Intake

During the intake process, we will discuss your concerns, identify the records needed for review, and begin coordinating the evaluation.

      Step 3:
      Records Collection

To provide the most comprehensive assessment possible, patients are responsible for obtaining and submitting relevant medical records, psychiatric evaluations, imaging, laboratory results, and other supporting documentation.

      Step 4:
      Expert Second Opinion

Once your records have been reviewed, you will meet virtually with one of our specialists. Following the consultation, you will receive a detailed written report that includes diagnostic impressions and individualized treatment recommendations.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I seek a second opinion?

A second opinion can help confirm a diagnosis, clarify symptoms, identify additional treatment options, or provide reassurance that your current treatment plan is appropriate. Many patients find that an independent evaluation gives them greater confidence in their care decisions.

Does this replace my current psychiatrist or therapist?

No. This service is designed to complement your existing care. We encourage patients to share their written report with their current treatment team so recommendations can be incorporated into ongoing treatment whenever appropriate.

      Do you accept insurance?

No. Virtual Second Opinions are offered for a flat fee and are not billed through insurance. Please contact our office for current pricing and payment information.

What information do I need to provide?

Patients should submit any records that may help our specialists understand their history. This may include psychiatric evaluations, medical records, therapy notes, psychological testing, laboratory results, imaging studies, medication history, and other relevant documentation.

      What happens after my consultation?

Following your evaluation, you will receive a comprehensive written report summarizing our findings, diagnostic impressions, and treatment recommendations. You may share this report with your current clinician or use it to help determine the next steps in your care.

Can I participate if I live outside Florida?

Yes. Virtual Second Opinions are available to patients throughout the United States.
